Unit 3 (Solve It!) Final Projects
9th Grade, 2021-2022
AHS 9th graders have been engaging with the question “How can we solve equations, and what can be beautiful about this process?” over the first part of this 2nd semester, 2022.
In the last week of the unit, students worked in partners or individually to create and solve a real-world problem, using the algebraic and graphical methods they’ve been learning and practicing.
Check out the student work below! Where possible due to format, we invite you to comment on student work. Physical posters are also currently displayed in the hallway of the AHS West Building.
Students invite you to use the following prompts to help you as offer comments:
Make sure to also check out the graphical whiteboard play 9th graders engaged in during project work time, pictured at the bottom of this page!

Students invite you to use the following prompts to help you as offer comments:
- What do you find beautiful, relevant, and/or interesting about this student’s project?
- How could this student/students further refine their word to go deeper, improve clarity/quality/relevance, etc?
- What questions do you have about this project?

Student Whiteboard Fun:
During project work time (over the span of ~2 weeks), some students took it upon themselves to engage in some mathematical whiteboard play. They communicated across duets through creating and critiquing real-life graphs. Check out their work below!
